National Museum of the American Indian

The kids and I have been trying to take the metro into DC at least once a week this summer to go to the museums and events at the mall. Turns out we are creatures of habit and have repeatedly visited the Hirshhorn Modern Art Museum and the Insect Zoo at the Natural History Museum in addition to whatever event or exhibit we go for. We tried to break from our habit today and had a wonderful day at the National Museum of the American Indian where the kids were able to make their own "daisy chain" bead work (as seen in Julia's hair in the pictures!) and see several really great exhibits, as well as enjoy our lunch by the beautiful waterfall looking at the limestone facade of the museum. Rejuvenated by our lunch we popped into the Air and Space Museum to see the Universe exhibit. After going to the theatre to see "Night at the Museum 2" last week the Air and Space Museum took on new life for us!

See? We don't have to go to the Hirshhorn EVERY time we go museum hopping!
