Since we had the holiday weekend, and no lax, swimming, ccd, birthday parties or piano, we decided to take a little getaway to the Chesapeake Bay. We went down to a little island on the southern end of Matthews County, just across Mojack Bay from Williamsburg. Unbelievably, after getting there early on Saturday, we had a day about 90 degrees (in October!) and the kids put on swimsuits and we hung out on the beach all afternoon! Even the locals were surprised that the kids were able to swim in the fairly warm water and the dolphins were fishing back and forth in front of us the whole time.
In a more predictable October fashion Sunday was cool and cloudy and we took a fun 2.5 mile hike out to see the New Point Comfort Lighthouse. The whole weekend was a blast, and we stayed in a very comfortable refinished old farmhouse right across a path/road to the beach.
